Mga Tauhan:

Kim- ang pangunahing bida sa kwento. Baguhang nurse sa PGH na nagkakaroon ng problema sa buhay.

Jay- ang dating kasintahan ni Kim na lihim parin niyang iniibig kahit na sila’y naghiwalay na ng tatlong taon.

Narrator: tatlong taon… tatlong taon nang nakatabi’t patuloy na natutuyo ang isang pirasong rosas na hinangin sa latag nina Kim at Jay noong sila’y nasa parke. Isa itong kakaibang pangyayari, humangin mula sa kawalan ang napakabusilak na simmbolo ng tunay na pag-ibig.
Nagbubuklat si Kim ng kanyang mga lumang kagamitan. Sinisipat niya itong mabuti. Inaalam kasi niya kung alin pa ba sa mga ito ang importante at maaari niyang magamit sa States dahil sa loob ng anim na buwan, siya’y tutuloy na roon upang magtrabaho.


Lola Chayong: anak, mabuti naman at nakatapos ka nang may magagandang marka. Hindi ka mahihirapang maghanap ng trabaho sa lagay na iyan.

Kim: oo nga po eh! Sa totoo lang excited na akong amgpunta diyan. Gusto ko na kayong Makita. Ang mga pinsan ko po? kamusta na? ang tita po at ang tito?

Lola Clare: ay naku, wag mo kaming intindihin ditto. Si Angelo, head ng football team nila sa eskwela. Lagi ngang nananalo yung team nila eh! Si Luis naman, lagi siyang napipili ng eskwela mismo para maging lider ng kung anu-anong events ng school. Kalian lang nga nagging speaker siya sa isang assembly na ang kasama’y matataas na tao sa pulitika. Ang galling diba?

(…sumisigaw sa background ang magkapatid)

…Ay teka anak, kausapin ka raw ng pinsan mo ha?

Kim: oho…

Angelo: hello? Ate kim! How are you there?

Kim: ayay! Nabaluktot na ang dila mo insan! Okey naman ako. Eto, nagaayos ng mga gamit ko. Kayo? Musta na kayo?

Angelo: were just fine here. Luis came home late yesterday. He spoke with the mayor kasi, they wanted to sponsor a program he came up with.

Kim: Oh! I heard you guys are doing okay there. Tell Luis that I congratulated him ok?

Angelo: ok! Hey! Ate! We just won against Jefferson High, can you believe it? They were champions for years already! My team played really good. What can I say? They met their match!

Kim: hahaha! You’re so cool cuz! Ano bay an? Magtagalog ka nga muna! Wala pa nga ako diyan eh! Saka na tayo mag-“spokening dollar” noh!

Angelo: hehe! Ate Kim talaga! Teka, kelan ka nab a pupunta ditto? Excited na kasi sina mommy at daddy, alam mo naman yung dalawa! Hindi na nga mapalagay nung nalaman nilang Dean’s Lister ka, parang gusto bigla umuwi ng Pinas.

Kim: Malapit na ‘insan! Mag-aayos nalang ako ng requirements ko tapos diretso na ‘ko diyan. Si Luis? (nagsasalita ng malakas sa background)

Angelo: di mo ba ‘te naririnig? Ayun, sa harap ng salamin, nagpapractice ng speech niya para bukas, sa assembly lang naman! Bawat buka ata ng bibig, importante eh! (tawa)

Kim: hehe! Ikaw talaga! Pinagtitripan mo nanaman yang kapatid mo!

Angelo: Nerd yun eh! (bumulong) he’s such a geek!

Luis: oy kuya! I heard you!

Angelo: hehe! I was just kidding! Hehe! Hello? Ate?

Kim: oh? Bakit? Kayo talagang dalawa, parang di na kayo tumanda! Miss ko na kayo!

Angelo: ate..

Kim: o, ano?

Angelo: san na si kuya Jay? Gusto ko lang malaman sana, kung okay lang.

Kim: ha? (natatawa) di ko alam eh! La na kaming communication eversince.

Angelo: miss mo na? mahal mo talaga yun ‘te noh?

Kim: Anu ka ba? Kaw talaga! Kung anu-ano sinasabi mo…

Angelo: sige na nga! Sorry! Ay ‘te, kausapin ka ni Lola.

Kim: ok! Pakabait ka diyan ha? Si Luis din ha?

Kim: naku, okay lang yun ‘la. 3 years nang lumipas noh! Nakalimutan na ko nun!

Lola Chayong: a, o sige! Antaas nanaman siguro ng bill namin nito. Sosyal kasi girlfriend ng pinsan mo. Panay ang lakwatsa nung pamilya, pinsan mo naman panay long distance rin. O siya, sige anak, ingat ha?

Kim: opo ‘la! Don’t worry! Malapit na ko diyan ha?

Lola Chayong: sige apo ha? Ingat! Bye!

Kim: bye bye po!


Narrsator: matagal nang pinapangarap ng mga magulang ni Kim na magpunta sa States. Ang mommy kasi niya, matagal nang dapat naroon ngunit sa tagal ng papeles ng petisyon na kanilang ginawa pa simula sila’y bata pa, humigit kumulang apat na dekada na ang lumilipas ay wala paring nangyayari. Ang daddy naman niya, mas maraming mahahanap na job opportunities abroad.
Bumalik si Kim sa paghahalungkat nang Makita niya ang isang pamilyar na kuwaderno. Kulay purple ito, may nakaguhit na tatlong anghel at may nakasulat na “corporate angels” sa takip nito. Naalala niya noo’y paborito niya ang kulay na ito. Nang buklatin niya ang takip, may nakasulat na “the realities behind the reality of my identity”. Ito! Ito ang kwadernong araw-araw niyang dala noon kapag aalis siya ng bahay. Napangiti na lang siya nang makita ang iba’t ibang makukulay na isticker na kanyang idinikit doon upang gawing dekorasyon. Ngunit nang bigla niya itong buklatin, sa gitna ng mga pahina, bumulalas sa kanya ang isang litrato at isang pulang rosas na hindi nya inaakalang makikita niya pa sa buong buhay niya. Sa ilalim nito, may nakasulat,

Kim: I love you! (nagisip) ito yung diary ko nung college! (napapangiti) tatabi ko parin to! Sentimental value!

Narrator: nung kahapunan, umalis si Kim sa kanyang condo upang makipagkitasa kanyang matalik na kaibigan na si Tricia. High school palang ay magkadikit na ang bituka ng dalawa, hindi sila mahihiwalay ng kahit anu pa man. Isang tinginan lang, nagkakaintindihan na sila agad sa sobrang pagkakilala nila sa isa’t isa. Magkikita dapat sila sa Starbucks sa Greenbelt 3 ng alas siyete ngunit alas otso na, wala parin si Tricia.

Kim: (kinuha ang celphone at tinawagan si Tricia) hello!? Bez!? Asan ka na?

Tricia: parating na kami diyan! Na-flat kasi yung wheels ni Ben, nagchange tire pa kami. Ikaw, san ka na?

Kim: andito na ko noh! Kanina pa! makakadalawang frap na ko! Bilisan mo, sige ka, ichacharge ko sayo tong pangalawa… o, oorder na ko!! (nang-aasar)

Tricia: andyan na nga, kulit! Nasa may Pasay Road nap o! tama na kain, sige, tataba ka!

Kim: ay, nagsalita ang hindi matakaw! Sige na! ditto lang ako sa labas ng coffee shop, yosi break ok?

Tricia: haay! Tigas talaga ng ulo mo! Last stick nay an ha?

Kim: opo! Dalian nyo ha?

Tricia: ok! Sige! Bye!


Narrator: 30 mins na ang lumipas, hindi parin nagpapakita ang kanyang bestfriend kaya naupo muna si Kim sa tabi ng falls doon, na binabalutan ng iba’t ibang makukulay na ilaw mula sa ilalim nito. Napakagandang tignan ng running water rito. May mga isda pang lumalangoy. Habang ina-appreciate nya ang kagandahan ng pag-aaral ng landscaping dahilan sa retokadong view, nag-ring ang telepono niya. Narinig niya ito at tinignan sa caller ID kung sino ang tumatawag ngunit ang caller ay mula sa di nya kilalang numero. Inisip nya na baka importante ang tawag kaya hindi nagtagal, sinagot rin niya ito.

Kim: hello? Who is this?

Someone: hi! Kamusta ka na?

Kim: uhm… sino to? Sorry, d ako nage-entertain ng textmate eh!

Someone: doesn’t matter kung sino ako. Gusto ko lang malaman kung okay ka lang. sige, ngayong alam ko na, thanks for the peace of mind. Bye! (binaba)

Kim: (pabulong) woooohh… creepy! Sino kaya yon!?

Someone: (pasigaw) Huy! Holdap to!

Kim: (nagulat) ayyy!! Shit! (lumingon) shit ka bez! Bakit ka ganyan!? Oh! Hi Bennie boy! Hahaha!

Tricia: Bennie boy ka diyan!

Ben: selos ka naman!?

Tricia: di noh! (tingin kay Kim) ba’t ba parang gulat na gulat ka!? Ang weird mo!

Kim: di! Kasi nakakatakot kaya! May tumawag kasi sakin sa celphone ko, ngayon-ngayon lang. sabi kumusta na raw ako. Nung tinanong ko kung sino sya, it doesn’t matter daw basta alam nya na ok ako. Ngayong alam nya na ok daw ako, nagpasalamat dahil binigyan ko daw siya ng peace of mind! Ang creepy diba?

Ben: hmm… baka naman nakikipagtextmate lang. fina-flatter ka muna. Nakakatakot nga!

Kim: di eh! Sabi ko, d ko kailangan ng textmate. Wala namang ni-react! Parang kilala nya ko eh! Parang pamilyar! Pero d ko siya kilala.

Tricia: hanep! Secret admirer!

Ben: di, baka naman yung ex mo? Di kaya? O baka naman sa sobrang pag-iisip sayo, nagpaka-stalker na sya!?

Tricia: (pinalo si Ben) ano ka ba!? D naman siguro noh! Tsaka saang lupalop ba naman nya makukuha yang number mo? E nagpalit ka nga diba agad, right after nag-break…. (natigilan) ay.. sorry!

Kim: nah! Its ok! ‘nu ka ba naman bez? 3 years na lumipas noh! Tsaka imposible rin naman na si Jay… ay… kung sino man siya… yon diba? Since ng break up wala kaming communication eh! Teka! Tama na nga yang pinag-uusapan natin! San ba kayo nanggaling? Bakit ang tagal niyo?

Ben: nag-invite kasi yung guys ng barkada natin over, e man’s night yon, no girls allowed. Eh yang bestfriend mong magaling, nag-insist sumama. Ayon! Natrauma! Ayaw na ulit sumama! Hehe! Kulit kasi!

Tricia: eh baby, gusto ko lang naman malaman kung ano ginagawa ng tropa pag man’s night nyo. Hehehe! Ngayon alam ko na! bez! Alam mo ba, they were watching…… (tinakpan ni Ben ang bibig ni Tricia)

Ben: Arnold Swarzchenneger! Kasi nga diba, tatakbo siyang president?!

Kim: (taas kilay) hmm… so what’s the connection? Alam ko na yon, basta mga lalaki kayong magkakasama, porn yon! Haayy! Been there, done that!...

Tricia: … and missing it so much!

Kim: ngeks! Di rin noh! Tara, nood na tayo movie. Ano bang meron? (lumapit sa listahan ng mga palabas) ano meron sa “Steep Stair”? horror?

Tricia: di, romance. Labo ng title noh?

Ben: eh kasi, storya non, ung lalaki, may girlfriend. Yung girlfriend na-fall sa iba, kaya nagging “Steep Stair” yung title, gets?

Kim: (natahimik) ooohhh…..k…. tara! Yan nalang!

Tricia: sure ka?

Kim: Sure! Some memories are worth remembering!

Ben: memories? Di ko gets..! (napaisip) oh! Memories!


Narrator: “some memories are worth remembering”, ika
nga ni Kim. Habang nanonood sila ng movie, nakikita’t pinagmamasdan ni Kim ang bawat galaw ng bestfriend nya at ni Ben. Naaalala niya tuloy 3 years ago kung ano ang ginagawa nila ni Jason kapag kasama nilang manood si Tricia talaga nga namang nakaka-out of place ang bawat galaw at eksena ng dalawa. Para kay Kim, ito’y tila isang “déjà vu”, magkaiba nga lang, “I was there, you were here, with a different guy”.

Kim: (naisip) ako sana yan ngayon… double date dapat to! Kung hindi lang… haayy! Tapos na ang lahat! May magagawa pa ba ‘ko?


Narrator: ganito ang nangyari hanggang matapos ang pelikula. Wala nga siyang naintindihan sa palabas sa dahilang iba ang pinapanood nya’t hindi ang pelikula mismo. Nagmistulang pelikula ang lambingan ng dalawang magkasintahan sa tabi niya. Parang mas may kulay, mas may kabuluhan, mas kapani-paniwala. Di tulad ng “Steep Stair” na walang ibang gagawin sa kanya kundi magsisi ng magsisi sa mga nagawa nya kay Jay. Sa bagay, ano nga ba ang pinagkaiba ng dalawa? Eh dahilan rin ditto kaya siya nagsisisi sa paghihiwalay nila ni Jay. Tinago nalang niya ang lahat sa kanyang sarili. Kung tutuusin, hindi naman mangyayari ang hiwalayan kung hindi lang nagkaron ng tenga ang dingding at pakpak ang balita. Mabilis lang itong nagsalita ng hindi nakikinig sa kung ano ang tunay na katotohanan sa likod ng bawat eksena sa buhay ni Kim. Sa Bubba Gump…

Tricia: astig yung palabas noh, bez? Ang galing talaga ni Julia Roberts! Bagay na bagay sila ni Keannu Reeves!

Ben: haay bheb, wala na tayong magagawa sa bibig ni Julia, talagang malaki yon noh! At si Keannu, halata namang artista dahil sa totoong buhay, di hahalik ng babae yan, lalaki ang hahalikan nyan!
(nagtawanan lahat)

Tricia: natutuwa lang naman ako sa twist ng istorya. Kakaiba kasi! Astig noh? Bez?!

Kim: oo! Astig! Ang laki nga talaga ng bibig ni Julia! Binabae si Keannu! Hahaha! (sabay inom ng Lemonade at kumuha ng sangkatutak na Mudpie)

Ben: hala bheb! Exorcist, in action!

Tricia: (sinuway si Ben) hoooyyy… Bez.. okay ka lang? La ka sa sarili mo… hello??

Kim: ha? Di. Okay lang ako. Bakit? (tumingin sa relos) uy! Anung oras na!? may duty ako bukas. Uwi na tayo.

Ben: ok. Right after maubos tong mudpie. Hatid ka namin sa condo mo ha? Di ka na pupwedeng magdrive, baka kung ano pang mangyari sayo.

Kim: di, okay lang ako!

Tricia: napakatoxicated mo nga eh! Sure ka, okey ka lang?

Kim: oo! Antok lang to! Sobrang kain din! Hehe! Imagine! Dalawang tall sized mocha fraps, halos kalahati nitong mudpie, bottomless iced tea, 3 full sized glasses na! o san ka pa??

Tricia: oo! Unusual din sayo yon. Isang platong chef salad okay ka na eh! Ang labo mo ngayon! Sobra! (nakataas kilay, looking suspicious)

Kim: ano nanamang isyu yan!? Heller! Im over him!

Tricia: bakit? Sinabi ko bang si Jay yon??

Ben: that’s it. You’re not okay. Uwi na tayo. Ihahatid ka namin. Babalikan ko nalang auto mo…

Kim: o sure! Fine!


Narrator: pagdating sa condo, naupo si Kim sa kanyang sofa. Nagisip-isip. Nagmasid habang kinakagat ang kanyang kuko… insecurity, iniikot ang buhok… confusion. Huminga siya ng malalim, tumayo mula sa sofa habang nakatitig sa telepono. Si Jay nga ba yon kung bakit siya nagkakaganon? Oo. Isang pangungulila na hindi mahihigitan ninoman. Ano? Tatawagan ba nya si Jay? Hindi dapat. Naupo siyang muli sa sofa. Inisip nyang itulog nalang ang lahat ng pangungulila nya kaya matapos mag-ayos, mag-toothbrush, maghilamos at lahat na, nahiga siya sa kama. Pilit niyang kinakalimutan ang mga nangyari kanina. Ang mga nangyari kailanman. Pilit niyang binubura ang bawat alaala nya kay Jay, simula ng makilala, minahal at iniwan niya ito. Lahat ng pangyayaring naitutugma sa kanilang naudlot na pagmamahalan. Ito’y tila isang computer, sana’y isang click lang mabubura ngunit hindi. Wala siyang magawa kundi namnamin ang alaala ng bawat Segundo ng silang magkasama. Ito’y tila isang rebultong nakatayo at nakatatak sa isipan nya na nagpapahiwatig ng isang kasaysayang di mabubura ninoman, kailanman.

Jay: Kim… mahal na mahal kita! (hinalikan sa labi)

Kim: Jay, mahal na mahal din kita! Matagal na kitang hinahanap-hanap. Saan ka ba nagpunta?

Jay: (ngumiti lang at hinawakan si Kim sa magkabilang pisngi) it doesn’t matter. Mahal kita, di na ko mawawala. Ditto lang ako sa tabi mo.


Narrator: Biglang bumangon at nagising ang diwa ni Kim, napatayo siya sa kama ng hindi inaalintana ang oras. Paulit-ulit nyang naririnig ang katagang, “it doesn’t matter”. Parang pamilyar ang tinig na ito. Paulit-ulit kung umalingawngaw sa kanyang tenga. Paulit-ulit na umiikot sa kanyang isipan. Paulit-ulit sa kumakatok sa kanyang puso. Naalala nya yung tumawag sa kanya ng wala lang. napaisip siya’t napatalon sa kanyang kinauupuan, hinablot ang telepono mula sa drawer, tinignan ang received calls list at tinawagan ang unknown number na nakita nyang tumawag kanina. Sa isang iglap, may sumagot… “the number you have dialed is unattended. Please try your call later.”

Kim: bez! (umiiyak) Help me!

Tricia: bakit? Anong nangyari? Nasaan ka?

Kim: nasa bahay. Bumabalik siya!

Tricia: alin? Sino? Ano yon? Di kita maintindihan!

Kim: Si Jay, bumabalik siya!

Tricia: bez, tama na iyak. Alam ko nahihirapan ka dahil talagang minahal at minamahal mo hanggang ngayon yung tao. Alam ko kung ano ang nararamdaman mo.

Kim: hindi! Hindi mo alam, hindi mo ko naiintindihan!

Tricia: diba sabi mo di mo na sya mahal? Naka-move on ka na? sabi mo wala na syo yung mga nangyari noon?? Diba?

Kim: akala mo lang yon! Di naman ganon kadaling kalimutan ang lahat ng pinagsamahan namin! Akala mo lang madali! At higit sa lahat, akala mo lang wala na! Pero meron, meron, meron!!! (binagsak ang telepono)


Narrator: umiyak ng umiyak si Kim na parang di na siya luluha pang muli. Ito ang pinakamasaklap sa lahat: ang malaman at maranasan ang sakit na hindi mo kahit ninais maisip kahit kailan. Ang sakripisyo ng pagsasabi sa buong mundo na hindi ka na nasasaktan pero heto, lumuluha ka dahil sa paggising mo sa realidad na, “oo, nasasaktan ako!” Ang pagpapalabas sa lahat na “hindi ko na siya iniisip! Hindi ko na siya minamahal!” pero ang totoo’y gabi-gabi kang hindi makatulog sa kakaisip, at gabi-gabi kang umiiyak dahil sa hindi mo pupwedeng makasama ang taong mahal mo. Kasabay ng paglanta ng rosas na pinakatago-tago ni Kim ay ang unti-unting pagbagsak ng kanyang habag na kaloobang umiibig parin sa taong sinisigaw ng kanyang damdamin.
Ilang beses tinawagan ni Kim ang inaakala niyang numero ng celphone ni Jay ngunit wala paring pinagbago hanggang sa mawalan siya ng pag-asa. Bumalik siya s banyo upang maghilamos, uminom ng mainit na gatas at saka humiga at tinuloy ang pagtulog.
Kinabukasan, nagising si Kim sa tunog ng alarm clock. Alas otso ng umaga. Pilit na bumangon si Kim sa pagkakahiga upang mag-ayos para sa duty niya ng alas diyes hanggang alas singko.
Sa Philippine General Hospital…

Head Nurse Santos: Nurse Kim, kindly go to room 408. may dagdag kang pasyente doon, kagabi lang naconfine due to typhoid. Alam mo na ang gagawin mo ha? Check mo yung records. Kailangan natin ngayon ang skills mo sa pagpapasaya ng mga bata. (ngumiti)

Kim: Yes ma’am. (inspect records) hehe! 20 cc. of dextrose po?

Head Nurse Santos: yes. At 11:30 sharp. oh, bakit parang namumugto yang mata mo? May problema ba?

Kim: ay, ma’am. Puyat po kasi ako kagabi eh. Nanaginip pa ko ng kakaiba, pasensya na ho ha?

Head Nurse Santos: no, its ok. Basta wag mong neglect work mo, kailangan tayo ng mga pasyente natin ok? Oh, diretso ka na sa 10:15 patient mo. Are you coping up ba naman? Di ka ba nahihirapan?

Kim: ay no ma’am. Thanks po. Okay lang po ako. (ngumiti) una na po ako, 10:07 na po eh. Thanks po ma’am.

Head Nurse Santos: sure. Yung 11:30 mo ha? Don’t forget.


Narrator: mabuti’t nakatiyempo si Kim ng matino at mabait na head. Karamihan kasi rito masusungit. Bilang sa isang kamay kung ilan ang tulad ni Mrs. Santos. Malaki ang pasensya nito sa kanyang grupo lalo sa mga baguhang nurse, tinutulungan pa niya ang mga ito na makapunta abroad. Siya nga ang lumakad ng papeles ni Kim kaya abot langit ang pasasalamat niya kay Mrs. Santos. Kaibigan at hindi superior ang tingin nila sa kanya. Katunayan nga, kapag may gimik ang shift Aries, kung saan kabilang si Kim, nakikisama pa sa kanila kahit sa inuman, tawanan o kahit sa iyakan.
Lunch break ni Kim ng 12:45. Matapos siyang manggaling sa 11:30 patient nya, ang huling pasyente niya sa umaga, dumiretso siya sa locker area, nagpalit ng damit, naghilamos at nag-apply ng sangkatutak na alcohol sa kanyang kamay. Dumiretso sya sa parking lot upang magdrive sa pinakamalapit na KFC sa Taft Avenue. Iniwan niya ang kanyang celphone sa compartment, bawal kasi ito sa loob ng premises ng ospital lalo na habang nagduduty ang isang nurse. Pagcheck niya, “12 missed calls”. Sa unang tingin palang, alam na niya na si Jason ito, tila sa pagiging kakaiba ng bilang ng tawag nito. Puno ng pag-asa, sinubukan niyang tawagan ang numero. Sa awa ng Diyos…

Kim: hello? Hello! Jay!!

Narrator: sa pagkagulat, nabagsak ni Kim ang kanyang celphone. Sino iyon? Sino ang babaeng sumagot sa number ni Jay? Di kaya ang bagong kasintahan niya? Ang ipinalit niya kay Kim?

Kim: nakuha na niya akong palitan! Samantalang ako, tatlong taon kong tiniis, pilit kinalimutan ang lahat! Nilunok lahat ng sakit! Iniyak ang bawat sandali ng alaalang binabalutan ng pagiibigan naming! Matapos ang lahat, ganito nalang ba ang igaganti niya sakin!?!?!


Narrator: muling tumunog ang celphone ni Kim, ngunit sabi niya sa kanyang sarili…

Kim: tama na! tama na iyong narinig ko! Ang kahibangan kong to! Tama na! ayoko na!
(pinatay ang celphone)


Narrator: Lumipas ang apat na buwan. Hindi na niya inalintana ang panahong lumipas. Sa dami ng mga pangyayari sa buhay ni Kim sa apat na nagdaang buwan: ang pag-approve ng kanyang working visa, ang nananabik na tawag ng kanyang mga kamag-anak sa Amerika, at ang pressure sa pagiging pilipinong nurse doon, hindi na niya muli pang inisip ang sarili; pukpok sa trabaho at laging on-the-go sa kanyang mga duty. Dalawang buwan na lang, tuloy na tuloy na ang pagpunta nya sa Amerika. Matutupad na rin ang matagal na niyang pinapangarap.
Isang sabado, sa boutique ng Giordano sa Powerplant Mall sa Rockwell, Makati…

Kim: ay oh! Bez! Cute ng dress! (kinuha) bagay ba sakin?? (pa-cute)

Tricia: ay, ang landi! Hehehe! Oo, bagay naman! Bakit? Bibilhin mo!?

Kim: masama po ba? (pa-cute parin)

Tricia: haayy! Nagpapacute nanaman si Loka! May bago ka na cguro… noh??

Kim: (binalik sa rack ang damit) ano ka ba? Alam mo namang kayod ako ngayon, ngayon na nga lang ako nagkaron ng panahon para sa mall, ichichismis mo pa ko! Oy, alam mo yon! Galit ako sa tsismis!!

(..tricia, suspicious looking)

… hoy bruha! Alam mo yon! Kaw talaga! Anung klaseng tingin nanaman yan!? Nung huling pinaalala mo sakin yon, nagulo ako ha! Tama na!

Tricia: haayy!! (kumuha ng damit at itinabi sa katawan) Hiding in Pretension!

Kim: hala! Isyu nanaman! Ibahin na nga natin yung topic, please lang! (hinila palabas ng boutique)

Tricia: sige na nga! (natahimik, nag-isip) ano na nga palang nangyari sa secret admirer mo? Tumatawag pa ba!? Si Jay siguro yon?

Kim: din a tumawag ulit! Jay ka diyan, di noh!? Wish ko lang noh!

Tricia: (tinapik sa ulo) naku! Inlove nanaman ang bruha kay Jay! Naku, iligo mo nalang yan! Init lang ng katawan yan!

Kim: (tumawa) oy, hindi ah! Tsaka… di ko mapigilan eh! Ganon ata siguro talaga first love! Mahal ko eh! Sorry ka! (sneaky na ngiti)

Tricia: (pabulong) sana naman diba, sinabi mo sakin noon pa para matagal ko na kayong nagpagayos!

Kim: ano?

Tricia: sabi ko, nagugutom na ko! Punta tayo Mcdo. Ayos!!

Kim: ah… ok! Gutom ka nanaman, kakakain lang natin ah! (tumatawa) atsaka ayoko sa Mcdo, gusto ko sa Sbarro. Gusto ko pizza, pasta… (pacute) matalap yon!

Tricia: ewan ko sayo ha? Tinotopak ka nanaman!

Kim: nanaman!? E huli akong nagtopak ng ganito, 3 years and 6 months nang lumipas! Abnoy ka talaga! O diba, after 45 years bumalik na ko sa dati! Hayuup! (naglalakad ng patalikod habang kausap si Tricia)

Tricia: umayos ka kaya ng lakad mo, baka may matamaan ka kaya, diba lang?!

Kim: so? Gusto kong maging bata ulit, alam mo yon? Gusto kong lumipad galing sa kama at bumagsak sa malambot na kutson, tumalon ng mataas at bumagsak sa sahig ng malakas, tumawa ng nakakaasar sa pandinig ng iba, hahaha! Tumakbo, madapa at bumangon ulit ng hindi umiiyak! Masaktan man ako, okay lang! basta alam kong na mahal ako dahil mahal ko siya ng buong buhay ko!

Tricia: (hinablot si Kim) si Jay nga yun noh?

Kim: sa unang pagkakataon sa loob ng tatlo’t kalahating taon, oo! Inaamin ko! D naman siya nawala sa isip ko eh! Kahit sa puso ko… andito lang sya, pinipigilan ko lang yung pagtibok dahil pinipilit kong hindi masaktan… (naluluha) kasi may iba na siya eh… (nangingiti) pero okay lang.. masaya naman siya! Basta masaya siya, ayos lang sakin yon! Anu nga naman bang saysay ng pagmamahal kung hindi ka masasaktan diba?

Tricia: ano ka ba? Wala siyang iba!! (nabigla sa sarili at nag-isip) hindi! Kailangan mo nang malaman to!

Kim: (nagulat) paano mo nalaman!? Anong kailangan kong malaman!?

Tricia: nung araw na may tumawag sayo habang hinihintay mo kami ni Ben sa Greenbelt, apat na buwan ang nakalipas, siya yon! Alam kong hindi ka tanga para hindi mo malaman, kaya nga tinawagan mo siya ng tanghali kinabukasan. Kaya rin kami nagtagal nung gabi dahil akala naming, lalapit na siya sayo para kausapin ka! Nandun sha bez! Ung nakausap mong babae, si Hannah yon!

Kim: (kinakagat ang kuko) nandon siya? Saan don? Si Hannah, as in yung kapatid nya? Ha? Bakit mo tinago sakin to??

Tricia: ( pinaupo si Kim) dahil gusto kong magkaayos pa kayo! Wala kang nagging boyfriend simula noon, wala rin siyang nagging girlfriend hanggang ngayon. Nakita ko yung pagmamahal mo at yung pagmamahal niya sayo. Iba. Iba talaga.

Kim: simula noon? Sa loob ng tatlong taon? Natiis mo ko? Bakit ganon? Bakit ka ganyan?! (umiiyak)

Tricia: sabi ko kay Jay, tapusin muna natin yung college natin. Ayaw pa nga niya nung una pero pumayag rin siya. Ayaw nga lang niyang mawalan ng komunikasyon sayo, pero di rin nararapat. Kaya ako ang kausap niya sa loob ng tatlo’t kalahating taon, para malapan niya kng anong nangyayari sayo, kung kumusta ka na. (niyakap si Kim at umayos ng upo dahil may tumabi sa bench) tama na iyan! Mahal mo talaga siya noh? Kim: oo naman! Tinatanong pa ba yon? Iiyak ba ko ng ganito kung hindi!?

Tricia: hindi mo nab a siya iiwan? Kahit kalian?

Kim: hindi ko naman talaga siya iniwan diba? Alam mo naman yon eh! Ayoko lang kasi noon ung mga intriga, tsismis! Alam mo naman ang nangyari diba? Tsismis ang lahat ng iyon! Walang totoo don! Di naman talaga ako nakipagrelasyon sa iba noon! Diba alam mo naman yon!?

Tricia: (pasigaw) oh, ano!? Narinig mo na?!

Kim: (nagulat, napatigil) ha? Ano? (napatingin kay Tricia)
Tricia: e kasi naman iyang katabi mo! Ayaw maniwala sakin! Di ka naman niya kayang kausapin! Ang torpe-torpe, sarap gilitan!


Narrator: paglingon ni Kim sa kanyang tabi, doon! Doon niya nasilayan matapos ang tatlo’t kalahating taon ang pinakamamahal niyang tao sa mundo! Nanghina si Kim, yumanig ang buong katawan niya sa bawat eksenang nangyari matapos niyang matunghayan ang pinakamatinding pagkagulat nya sa buong buhay niya: niyakap siya ni Jay, hinalikan sa labi at niyakap pang muli.

Jay: mahal na mahal kita!

Tricia: ay engot! Pinag-antay ang tatlong taon! Diyos miyo!

Kim: mahal na mahal din kita Jay! (niyakap)

Tricia: paano abroad mo? Ha? Bez?

Jay: ayos na papeles ko! sama ako sa baby ko eh! (ngiti at hinalikan sa labi)

Kim: (hinampas si Jay) eh kasi naman! Hmph! Pinahirapan mo pa ko, hayup ka! Lagi ka palang nandyan! Stalker!! …



Narrator: matapos ang lahat, nagkasundo muli ang magkasintahan na hindi na sila maghihiwalay kailan man.
Ang rosas sa takipsilim ay patuloy na natutuyo ngunit ang puso ng dalawang taong nagiibigan ay patuloy na titibok hanggang sa kanilang huling hininga.
